A new chapter in family ownership began last week as T.J. Paone bought Blackhawk Lanes Inc., 2325 E. Lincolnway, from his father, Tony Paone.

The senior Paone will remain on until the end of the year to assist in the transition.

Blackhawk Lanes was built in 1959 by Wilfred "Coo" and Donna Glick. In 1961. The Glicks expanded from eight to 20 lanes. Tony Paone has owned the bowling alley since 1981.

"Throughout the last 25 years, I have watched the sport of bowling and the environment change dramatically. I have grown up in this center, and everyone here is like family," T.J. Paone said. It has long been a dream of his to one day own Blackhawk Lanes and to be able to leave his mark, he said.

"My only hope is that I can continue on in this tradition. I am looking forward to accomplishing this goal, and hope to be able to offer new and exciting opportunities to the area,” said Paone, who also owns and operates Paone's Computer Creations.
